I was working with a new client recently. They specialised in a service focused on servicing consumers of the travel space. As part of our strategy presentation, there were some interesting psychological insights about young jet setters.
The one that stood out for me was that they wanted their air travel to be “eco-friendly”. Yes, that’s what they want! Eco-Friendly aeroplane travel.
Here I was, the raging cynic….. ready to explode into laughter.
I couldn’t help myself:
Uhhhhh…. don’t they realise that flying is one of the worst things you can do from an emissions standpoint?
Then some young whippersnapper said, “but you can carbon offset”.
Look!
Here we have a generation of young bucks who clearly want their cake and eat it too (still don’t understand that saying). If you want to do something about global emissions. It really is that simple. Stop getting in damn planes.
Note. I am not against aeroplane travel at all, far from it! I’m just exhausted by climate alarmists who do not practice what they preach. It’s simple, you want change? Be the change.
I’ve been into conservation and sustainable living practices for close to 15 years ago (definitely bragging). As a mad and I mean mad. Carnivore. I even went vegan for around 6 years to do “my part” and fuck was I annoying. But it was kind of fun.

My goal is not to downplay your efforts or anyone's efforts in wanting to create a cleaner world. I’m all for it. Let’s just get one thing straight.
Carbon Offset schemes are just a guilt alleviation marketing tool whipped up by some strategist to make people feel better about jumping on a plane.
