Google’s recent clarification on its stance on AI-generated content has been met with enthusiasm by many content creators. According to Google, “AI has the ability to power new levels of expression and creativity, and to serve as a critical tool to help people create great content for the web.” This change in policy means that businesses can now use AI tools to write blog posts, as long as they are not solely used to manipulate search rankings.

In the post on the Google Search Central blog, Google stated, “Appropriate use of AI or automation is not against our guidelines.” This is great news for those who are looking to streamline their content creation process. By using AI to write the first draft of a blog post, content creators can then edit, check and add in resources to create a polished final piece.

However, Google advises against listing the AI tool as the author of the content. “Giving AI an author byline is probably not the best way to follow our recommendation to make clear to readers when AI is part of the content creation process,” the post states.
