It’s bizarre how people still tend to talk about SEO as if it is some kind of dark art.

It’s not.

You’ve read the many posts right here on Medium. They usually go something like this:

• Make sure your keyword is located in A, B, C and D.
• Write quality content.
• Tada!

And yes that’s the basic crux of SEO for an individual piece of content.

But the truth is.

Google rarely looks at individual pieces of content on their individual merits. (It can happen, but rarely)
